About Us

We are a family of sailors, who travel the world by sailboat, and love to do martial arts. Seriously. Part of the fun is that while traveling, we can do martial arts in different dojos around the world, and even without having a common tongue, we can meet people and interact with them safely and in a fun way. Martial Arts and Crafts Jewelry is a family business run by our sailing family; Sarah, Madison, and Malia Hair and John Gentile. We started this business as a way for our family to work together and use our individual talents with several decades of combined experience in design, photography, fine art, and computer engineering. We love working together and look forward to working with your family as well.

Our family loves to go sailing. We love to travel. We love to create art together. We also love to cook together, eat together, swim together, do aikido together, play games together, ride bikes together, and laugh together.



We are currently in Fort Lauderdale as we prepare our 42 foot ketch for an extended cruising life aboard. We are building a new bowsprit and dinghy and remodelling much of the interior to accomodate our family and plans. We are also hoping to paint the deck and do a bunch of little things to keep us safer and traveling in style.

While we are in Fort Lauderdale, John was recently laid off from the best job he has ever had in his life" where he worked daily with computers, helping his customers with databases and macros and all kinds of technical things about which Sarah does not know as much as she would like. Some of John's talents include remembering everything he has ever read, making fantastic dinners, and a special power over inanimate objects such as computers or door locks which is very hepful since they will often respond to simply the power of his voice. Now that is talent.

While in Fort Laderdale, Sarah was going to school again learning more about graphic design technologies and softwares and brushing up on everything about art, photography, design, publishing, and everything else that she has been doing for the past decade or so since being in school last time. Her favorite pasttime is making jewelry. She also enjoys her time on her bicycle riding about town and waving at all the cars who honk at her to say, "Hello" during her daily errands.

Madison is loving school and her friends in her neighborhood. She practices aikido and wants to do more gymnastics as well. She is an excellent model for her family to work with when trying out new ideas for photo shoots. She also comes up with a lot of ideas for how to set up shots and put together stock photos. She enjoyed her very first solo watch on the boat a few months ago and is looking forward to more late night watches where she can catch up on listening to music. Madison also loves theatre camp and performing in front of people. She is an amazing singer as well.

Malia is a very talented poet and artist. To quote one of her best friends, "She is very agreeable and she tells the best jokes." She certainly makes all of us laugh every day with her clever wit and silly antics. Malia also trains very hard in and loves aikido. Malia will hopefully be learning to ride a bike this summer so her mom can ride a bike alone for once. Malia loves animals probably more than anyone else in the world, and will rescue even a tiny ant or spider from harm.
