Purple Retro Origami Peace Crane Earrings
These earrings feature handmade everlasting Japanese paper origami peace cranes. They are attached to a surgical steel earwires and accented with matching glass beads. The beads shown may differ from the beads on your specific earrings, since we make each and every pair by hand.
Are these handmade? Everything on this site is handmade by our family: Sarah, John, Madison, and Malia. We design and create jewelry and other items as we travel around the world on our sailboat. You can read more about our adventures on our blog
How are they Made? We begin with large pieces of screen printed Japanese papers. We measure and cut the pieces into squares for folding. We fold several hundred peace cranes using the traditional origami pattern. The paper cranes are pierced and have a silver plated loop attached. The folded paper peace cranes are then massaged in a wet plastic jewelry epoxy and hung to dry for 24 hours. The delicate paper peace cranes have now transformed into a solid plastic.
The everlasting origami peace cranes used in necklace pendants, earrings, and hair sticks are about an inch and a half across. Earrings are about 2 inches long and necklaces are about 18 inches long. If you have a special request for a different length, please let us know and we will do our best to make a special item just for you.
